NYFW 2013 - It Begins

Fashion week is literally consumes my life even though I'm on the other side of the country. I love watching the shows online and taking in all those amazingly beautiful and skillfully designed clothes. Fashion week also gives me a little sneak peek into a world that i absolutely adore. 

A great part about the shows is you get some great inspiration for what to wear during spring. Even though some runway looks can seem a little daunting to incorporate into your everyday wardrobe you can take inspiration from the runway looks.

Some of my favorites from Friday's Spring 2014 Ready-to-Wear collections:

10 AM 

Rachel Roy

Check out those awesome ear cuffs on the models!

12 PM 

Rebecca Minkoff

Her line was very Mexico inspired, from the embroidery to the Frida Kahlo braided crowns. 

1 PM 

Gregory Parkinson 

All the lace and pastel colors really contrasted Gregory's last line( it was almost all black).

One of my favorites. 

Doesn't it remind you of Spencer from PLL?

2 PM 

Rag & Bone

The fact that Rag and Bone had jumpers in their line made me like it about 1000 more. 

Rag and Bone by far was my favorite line from Friday, they just scream classic new york fashion. 

The Streets 

The Fashion Week shows are amazing but the streets of New York turn into a runway of their own during the week. Street style is a great way to see how people wear things in different ways. 

I'm obsessing over the girl on the rights's shoes!

Trend Alert: Fall Pastels

During the European Fall shows this past year an interesting trend occurred. Pastels! In the Fall! I love it! Recently I incorporated some pastels in my fall wardrobe, see it here. 

On the Runway:

Take a cue from the Chloé pre-fall collection

Chloé offsets the pastel clothing with sharper pieces like the dark tan boots

 In Print:

The Main Pastel colors being purple, eggshell, pink, gray, and blue. 

Adding a pastel bag or clutch with a darker outfit will balance the fall colors. 

On the Street:

The key  to rocking fall pastels is offsetting the pale palette with deeper autumnal colors. Under one of the season’s big pastel wrap coats, wear basics in shades of nude, blacks, green, gray and winter white.

My 90's childhood style definitely showed in my outfit today. 

I was actually quite nervous about my outfit today. I've never worn my scrunchies out and about typically I would wear them just at home. Even if you are nervous about taking risks with an outfit just try it. Wear what makes you happy. So I rocked a scrunchie to school.

My obsession over scrunchies is back. I used to have a ton of these back when i was really little. Also I'm loving the lips print from American Apparel. Super cute!

Lately I've been trying to style myself differently everyday. One day be classic and chic then the next day pull a 180 and wear a more punk look. The 90's look was what I was going for today. (though i do realize my sunglasses are more 60's era opps) American Apparel is a great place to find simple pieces to achieve the 90's look. Also they are just super rad. :)
